Planning a teaching session

When you are allocated a topic, think about what you want your colleagues to get from the session (ie learning objectives), then have a search around the web for some resources.

These may be videos…podcasts…articles…etc etc.

If you havent already try using http://www.googlefoam.com.

You will see several websites referenced frequently eg

http://www.lifeinthefastlane.com

http://www.emcrit.org

These are excellent and easy reads

Feel free to add to this list through the discussion blog and we will start a virtual library…not only of your presentations but of links etc that you found useful.

On the subject of presentations…

-try to get away from the passive didactic powerpoint ramble

-remember…your colleagues already have that background info (from your pre-reading), so your talk can be applied and to the point

-so engage the audience…

-use cases “….What would you do next?”

-Quizzes and Small group discussions are great at generating good discussion…the more interactive the better.

Otherwise if you can register with the website then I can make sure I have all your email addresses (dont worry I wont bombard you with emails).

Look forward to working with you all!
